Not only do they make amazing biscuits and snacks, they also help create jobs and revenue across Australia. They spend about $250 million annually buying flour and grains, sugar, dairy products, and canola oil from Australian businesses and they have invested more than $400 million into their biscuit and snacking facilities. Something that makes Arnott’s such a national icon is the fact that they purchase raw ingredients and services from local Australian farmers and businesses instead of from other countries. There are also several thousand more employed across the Asia Pacific region. In the past century more than 50,000 Australians have worked with Arnott’s and today, around 2,500 people are employed across all Australian states and territories. In 2013, they generated a total revenue of about $1 billion and much like the biscuit industry, Arnott’s total revenue is expected to increase in the coming years. Since the biscuit industry is so popular and on the rise, Arnott’s is doing quite well. The biscuit industry is only expected to increase even more in the upcoming years, with an estimated market value of over $14,500 million by the end of 2017. The market consumption of biscuits also increased, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.3% between 20, reaching a total of over $3,500 million kg in 2012. In 2012, the biscuits market had over $10,000 million in total revenues, with a 6.2% annual growth rate between 20. The biscuit industry is quite large in the Asia-Pacific region. Recently, over $37 million was invested in the production line at the Brisbane facility to help boost productivity and increase jobs. Tim Tams are mainly manufactured in Australia with bakeries in Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane. Ross Arnott, the founder of Arnott’s Biscuits, attended this race and thought that Tim Tam was the perfect name for his new biscuit. A historic and national icon, Arnott’s has been around for 146 years and employs more than 2,800 Australians across all states and territories. Tim Tams are a product of Arnott’s Biscuits, one of Asia Pacific’s largest food companies. As I have gotten older I’ve definitely started enjoying it more and more but it wasn’t until I finally came to Australia that I absolutely fell in love with chocolate, and I have Tim Tams to thank for that. Even though I loved brownies and chocolate chip cookies, plain old chocolate was just never something I could get myself to like. Growing up, I was never a huge fan of chocolate.
